Amsterdam, April 20, 2017 – Hardwell has won a SpinAward in the Digital Celebrity category. The jury voted for the top Dutch DJ over Dutch influencers Anna Nooshin, Tim Hofman and Nikkie Tutorials because of the massive, innovative jumps he managed with his team last year. Hardwell is the world’s first DJ experimenting with blockchain technology and the first musician who launched his own chatbot for Facebook Messenger.
During the SpinAwards Night in Amsterdam, Robbert van de Corput, the DJ’s actual name, received the prize. “This is a great honor for me and my team. Together, we are always looking at innovations and new technologies we can implement for my fans around the world. Our blockchain and bot adventures are good examples of that. We are ready to turn the whole music industry on its head – this is just the beginning.
Bot and Blockchain
Hardwell was the first artist to embrace the new Facebook Messenger chatbot functionality. In July, he launched his own chatbot. Denis Doeland, Digital Consultant of Hardwell’s management agency Sorted Management: “The bot provides fans with various ways to get in touch with Hardwell. Thanks to new functionalities of Facebook it now also becomes possible to gain revenues in the bot through existing platforms like Spotify. With the help of blockchain, artists could even directly receive their share of revenue.”
Future
During the F8 Conference this week Facebook announced more new functionalities in the area of Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality. Hardwell’s team is currently investigating in which way fans can benefit from these new techniques in the future, for example by visiting a concert of Hardwell in the virtual world. In May, Hardwell is also one of the main speakers at The Next Web Conference in Amsterdam, Europe’s biggest tech conference.
